![]() ![]() Last year, more than 14,000 people came down to our Boston brewery to celebrate Harpoon Octoberfest, and another 6,000 came out to celebrate with us in Windsor. ![]() An estimated 2,000 people came to the first Octoberfest – so many people that Harpooners had to call family members to come and help pour beer! When they opened the doors the first night of the festival, Rich, Dan and five other Harpoon employees saw the crowds start to roll in. A spin on the traditional Mrzen lager served in Germany (per Harpoon), this beverage is an excellent choice for this year's Oktoberfest as well as for the entire fall season. So they took a leap of faith and thought they were going to go out with one last hurrah… First brewed by the company in 1989, the drink is actually the second-oldest specialty seasonal beer produced. Festivities include a German chocolate cake eating contest. However, in 1991 times were tough for the newly minted brewery, and it was not clear if Harpoon would still be in business for another year. What: Harpoon Brewery's annual Octoberfest celebration will bring three days of special events to this Boston brewery's parking lots. Rich and Dan had always wanted to host a festival at the brewery, as a tribute to the famous fall festival in Munich. It’s an idea that has been with the company since we first started. Tonight we kick off our 22 nd annual Harpoon Octoberfest in Boston, and we couldn’t be more excited to invite everyone to come and enjoy some great craft beer and live music with us! What started as our second seasonal beer in ‘89 led to a 30+ year festival tradition. ![]()
